At ChimaeraCon, I spoke with Terry Howard Thomas of Tabletop Plus. They have very, very, VERY cool dungeon terrain for miniatures and tabletop gaming. The line is just beginning, but it is expanding.
I don’t get to go to ChimaeraCon every year here in San Antonio. Things always come up on the same weekend. This year, however, I put everything else on the back burner and went. Two days, even!
I spoke with two members of After Midnight, Skyler Payne (I have no idea if that’s spelled correctly!) and Sandy Baker (I’m reasonably sure that one is right!). After Midnight travels the State of Texas performing at conventions.
Lord Vishus (He promised evil things would happen to me if I gave his real name) is a Texas Cosplay artist. He has so many costumes I stopped counting them! But, there is Lord Vishus, the Sith Lord, Hitman (Agent 47), Combat Spiderman (Black costume), and a new Steampunk Western Spiderman. And those are the ones I can remember of the top of my head.
Want to learn all about the people that ALMOST became President of the United States? Go to http://presidentiallosers.tumblr.com to find the book about just that!
Shannon McCormick is the man behind, and also inside, the book.

I’ve talked to Gary Odd Edmond before. It was a lot of fun. So, when he called me to say that he has an awesome announcement, I jumped at the chance to talk to him again.
“The Bud” isn’t your typical hero, or your typical comic. But it is taking Gary places.
My friend Kris Kidd is the promoter of Texas ComiCon, which is the home of The Con Cast. He is a great guy.
There, Kris. I did what you wanted. Now pay up!
All kidding aside, Texas ComiCon is a wonderful annual event in San Antonio and I always have a blast. At Staple!, I spoke with Kris about 2014’s show, and he gave a lot of good info.
ALSO, there’s a scoop hidden in the interview! I always get one scoop a year from Kris about an upcoming guest, and this year is no different. But, ya gotta listen to find out who it is!
Kris and I go back a couple of years, and we tend to get off topic. When we get to the point where we are having two different conversations with two different people, please, remember, we’re guys!
Staple! Yes, the exclamation point is part of the name! Look! Exclamation points!
Chris Nicholas, aka Uncle Staple, runs a great, but intimate gathering of (mostly) print media creators. Comics, art, books, video games, you name it. Indie creators rock, and Chris celebrates them at Staple!
I got 17 (I think) interviews in one short day, which is awesome. Listen to my review of my first visit to this really neat show.
Calvin Johns and the rest of the group over at Anthropos Games make some really interesting games. Plus, Calvin came up with the name of a great media group, Morbidly Obedient Media! You have to listen to get that one…
If you have played Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D to us geeks, you’ve seen this man’s work. One of the original artists for AD&D, Diesel Laforce is a fascinating man to speak to.
You can find him on Facebook.
Also, Fanboy TV was there interviewing as well. Go check them out at http://www.fanboytv.com.

Jamie Chambers heads Signal Fire Studios. If you like Cthulhu games, he’s got them. If you like METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA!!! He’s got it! The game that birthed Gamma World, my all time favorite game. Can you say suh-weet?
Jennifer Rehnay is the author of a story that I would call “Religious Fantasy”. “Religious” because it deals with known entities from Christianity, “Fantasy” because it has it’s own universe in which these entities interact.
It sounds really good. She was great to talk to in Austin, and you should go check out the website over at http://www.jenniferrehnay.com. You won’t be disappointed!

Aaron Allston is one of those writers that new or aspiring writers love. Or hate, depending. He’s written a ton of novels. He’s even written in the Star Wars Universe.
Like I said. Love or hate.
No matter how you feel about him, you have to admit he’s a cool guy! I talked to him at ChupacabraCon in Austin.
Last year, I interviewed Jarret Crippen, and Austin Police Detective, about his charity Scare For A Cure, but I screwed up the recording and lost it.
This year, at ChupacabraCon in Austin, Scare had a table set up, so I interviewed them. Jarret wasn’t able to be there that day, but I still got some good info.
I, along with 2 other San Antonio podcasts, sat down with Apple and two of his lieutenants for an in-depth interview about Alamo City Comic Con 2013. We also talked some about the 2014 show.
Matt Frank draws monsters. Big monsters. Kaiju! Godzilla and all his buddies! Also, if you wanna get in to a heated discussion, pick on the Transformers.
I’ve known Matt for over a year, and this is the first time I’ve gotten to sit down and talk to him one-on-one.
My buddies over at GeekVengers TV (http://www.geekvengers.com) go to Cons and record video interviews. Find their YouTube channel and see the goodness!
They Nerd Check various and sundry people, and were gracious enough to let me Nerd Check them at Alamo City Comic Con. They did good, but I got them on the last question.
Old school nerds for the win!
My thanks to Little Bit, Timmeh, Alex, and Celles for including me in their greatness!

Andrew Anderson is a comic creator and upcoming audio drama producer here in San Antonio. He’s a really cool guy. Alfredo Lopez, Jr, another local artist, grabbed me as I walked by at Alamo City Comic Con and told me that I HAD to interview Andrew.
He was right.
Go to Andrew’s blog at anderverse.wordpress.com for more info.

Onrie Kompan has created, with the help of some very talented people, an incredible book. The historical tale of a great general unfolds in full color.
“Yi Soon Shin” is a great looking book. You ought to get it.
Alamo City Comic Con was pretty awesome! Of course, you are going to listen to the review and hear that, so, just go to the webpage http://www.alamocitycomiccon.com to find out just how awesome it was. Keep going back to see what next year will bring!

Victor Miller created one of the best known movie monsters of all time. Jason Vorhees also happens to be my favorite! Turns out he’s won a few Emmy awards for some of his other works and has written some books, as well.
We had a wonderful visit. You can find out more at victormiller.com

I survived a face-to-face (if you’ll pardon the pun) with Leatherface himself. Gunnar Hansen is a great guy, and has done many things other than appearing as the iconic slaughter master. Go to IMDB and find out.
His new book, Chain Saw Confidential, is out. Go buy it.
Find out more at his site gunnarhansen.com.
